6 PLACES TO VISIT ON YOUR GIRLFRIEND GETAWAY TO SIERRA VISTA
By The Trip Sisters
As musician Mark Lindsey once sang, “Arizona, hey won’t you go my way?” That’s what you will be saying once you read about our recent trip to Sierra Vista! Located in Southeast Arizona, near the US/Mexico border, Sierra Vista serves as the region’s commercial hub, providing a variety of entertainment options. From nature lovers to music lovers, there are endless fun activities to do while enjoying the beautiful mountain views. Would you expect anything less from a city whose name means “mountain view”? If you aren’t intrigued yet, here are 6 things we recommend trying when you visit Sierra Vista on a girlfriend getaway.
1. Stay at Tombstone Monument Ranch
If you are looking for a great place to stay that also features some great entertainment, then look no further than Tombstone Monument Ranch! Located a short drive from Sierra Vista, the Tombstone Monument Ranch is the epitome of the Wild West. Home to the famous O.K. Corral shootout, visitors are taken back in time to explore historic downtown Tombstone. Here you can participate in activities such as shooting, hiking, and cattle penning. We opted for a gorgeous sunset trail ride that showcased the beautiful Arizona landscape. But the fun isn’t over once the sun sets. The ranch features live music 2-3 times a week and guests can hang out in the saloon for a few drinks while trying their hand at the poker tables. You’ll feel like a real cowboy after staying here!
2. Eat at Indochine Restaurant and the Copper Brothel Brewery
When you think of great Vietnamese food, your first thought probably wouldn’t be Arizona. However, you are sadly mistaken if you pass up on the chance to try Indochine Restaurant! Located in downtown Sierra Vista, Indochine Restaurant features a variety of classic Vietnamese meals that will leave your mouth watering. And what’s even better is that they provide a great selection of vegan and vegetarian options! We recommend trying the vegan curry tofu paired with some vegetable egg rolls and a side of sweet chili sauce for a delicious meal that will be sure to satisfy your appetite!
If you are looking for a good drink with your meal, be sure to check out Copper Brothel Brewery. Opened in 2018, this family-owned brewery offers delicious food and well-crafted drinks. We recommend trying the brewery’s specialty, the pulled pork sandwich which is smoked right on site and allows you to choose between 3 different BBQ sauces. And of course, you can’t forget about their home-brewed drinks! You can even order your own growler to take home.
3. Shop at the Sierra Vista Farmers Market
What better way to immerse yourself in a place than to explore some of its local shops and vendors? If you feel the same, we recommended checking out the Sierra Vista Farmers Market. Held at the Veteran’s Memorial Park, this farmers market features more than 50 vendors offering a variety of products, from locally grown fresh produce to handmade clothes and jewelry. It’s fun to browse around and talk with the different vendors and you may even find something for a friend, or even better, something for yourself! If you work up an appetite, don’t forget to check out some of the numerous food trucks nearby.
4. Explore with Apache ATV Tours
For a good time call Apache ATV Tours to set up an appointment for an ATV tour of the Huachuca Mountains. These tours are a must-do for all of you adventurous ladies who aren’t afraid to get a little down and dirty. On the tour, you will get to visit Ghost Town Ranch and historic pictographs all while spotting local wildlife. And if you really want to have some fun, be sure to include a wine tour in your visit and Apache ATV will even provide you with a designated driver!
5. Visit Coronado National Memorial
Arizona is a great place to go for anyone who likes hiking and the Coronado National Memorial is no different. Located a short drive South of Sierra Vista, the Coronado National Memorial provides visitors with great hiking trails and stunning views. The crown jewel of this is Montezuma’s Pass. At an elevation of 6,575 ft, this 3 mile pass leads to an overlook that is a sight to behold as you will be presented with stunning views of the the San Pedro River Valley to the East and Mexico to the South.
6. Listen to the Arizona Folklore Preserve Concert
Part of the beauty of getting to travel is being able to experience the different cultures that develop all over the world. And what better way to appreciate one’s culture than to listen to local folklore music. Performed at the University of Arizona South’s Folklore Centre, the Arizona Folklore Preserve Concert features artists performing songs and stories that celebrate Arizona and Western. This is honestly a great way to really appreciate the western way of life and is a great way to wrap up your trip to Sierra Vista.
As you can see, there are so many great things to do in Sierra Vista. From hiking to shopping to enjoying delicious food and everything in between, you are bound to enjoy your visit. So, what do you say, how about going Arizona’s way?
